langtree care home

Langtree Care Home in Standish is a 2,840 ft² private-healthcare landmark by Alessandro Caruso Architecture and Interiors Ltd, in collaboration with Arise Millennium Construction Ltd, completed in 2025. Born from a shared vision between Alex Caruso and Omair Haider, it reimagines pandemic-proof care as a warm, dignified home—woven with biophilic spaces, adaptable clusters, and light-filled communal areas that nurture wellbeing and community.

vision & Concept

“We set out to design a care home, but what we created is a place where life unfolds with dignity, joy and connection; a true home in every sense.” Alex Caruso.

Here, you’ll uncover how Langtree Care Home grew from a moment of shared empathy into a nurturing design. Through site studies, hand sketches and biophilic mood boards, ACA translated the brief—“home, not institution”—into spaces defined by dignity, joy and community.

design & visualisation

“Every line we drew was guided by a simple question: Will this make life better for those who live and work here?”

Here, you’ll explore Langtree’s form through iterative models, hand drawings and immersive 3D renders. Each stage—mass studies, CGI fly-throughs and interactive diagrams—refined light, materiality and flow to ensure every corner feels like a true home.

technical execution

“Architecture is as much about execution as it is about vision.”

In this section, you’ll see how technical precision brought clarity and structure to complex ideas. From exacting tolerances to coordinated systems, every element was considered, resolved, and delivered with discipline. What looks simple is often anything but — and here, you’ll glimpse the quiet mastery behind the build.

“What makes Langtree Care Home special isn’t just its architecture, but the life that unfolds within its walls. To see ACA’s design become a backdrop for joy, comfort and connection is the greatest reward of all.”

From daylight-filled spaces to seamless transitions, Langtree Care Home has become more than just a place — it’s an environment shaped to support dignity, connection, and everyday life. In this final section, we explore how design decisions came to life, how the spaces are experienced, and the quiet impact of architecture when it serves a greater purpose.

"The soul of a project is shaped long before it's built."

This section explores the ideas and intentions that guided Meridian House from the start — the moments of clarity, the bold decisions, and the restraint that defined its character. It’s a glimpse into where architecture begins: in thought, not form.

Design Brief
The brief was clear: to create a pandemic-proof care home that felt like home, not an institution; a place where residents could thrive, families could connect and staff could feel empowered to deliver compassionate care. As well as catering for safety and comfort, ACA and Millennium Care saw the potential to infuse joy, dignity and community spirit into a building that could lift spirits as much as it met needs.
how it began
The spark—the realisation that architecture could be a catalyst for wellbeing, not just a container for care.

Through this realisation the story of Langtree Care Home was born. It began with a conversation, a moment of shared empathy and ambition, between Alex Caruso—Managing Director of ACA and Omair Haider—Managing Director of Millenium Care Group.

Design Rooted in Connection
Drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape and the rhythms of daily life, ACA’s concept centred on connection; to nature, to each other and to oneself.

The design team imagined light-filled communal spaces that encourage gathering, private nooks for reflection and seamless transitions between indoors and outdoors.

Biophilic Balance
Biophilic design principles were carefully applied, weaving natural textures, calming colour palettes and garden vistas throughout the home. ACA wrestled with the balance between openness and privacy, vibrancy and tranquillity.

Each design decision was shaped by the belief that every resident deserves dignity, comfort and beauty in their environment.
